October 11–20, 2026
Sharada Navarathri is a sacred journey through ten days of prayer, purification, and devotion to the Divine Mother. While many devotees are familiar with the beautiful alankarams, archanas, and celebrations associated with Navarathri, the Homams performed during these days hold profound spiritual significance.
During a Homam, sacred offerings are made into Agni while Vedic mantras are chanted. Agni is traditionally understood as the divine messenger who carries these offerings and prayers to the invoked deity. The sacred fire also symbolizes purification—the transformation of fear, negativity, confusion, and limitation into clarity, strength, and spiritual awareness.
During Sharada Navarathri Mahotsavam 2026, Sri Ganesha Temple will conduct a different Vishesha Homam on each of the ten days. Together, these Homams invoke the Divine Mother in Her many forms and seek Her blessings for protection, prosperity, harmony, wisdom, and spiritual growth.
Day 1: Sri Durga Suktha Homam
Sunday, October 11, 2026
The Mahotsavam begins with Sri Durga Suktha Homam, invoking Goddess Durga as the embodiment of divine strength and protection.
The sacred verses of Durga Suktham pray for guidance through life's difficulties, much like a boat carrying its passengers safely across a turbulent ocean. This Homam seeks the grace of Goddess Durga to overcome obstacles, dispel negativity, and begin the ten-day observance with courage and spiritual clarity.
Day 2: Sri Bhu Suktha Homam
Monday, October 12, 2026
Sri Bhu Suktha Homam honors Bhu Devi, the Divine Mother in the form of Mother Earth.
Bhu Devi sustains every living being with patience, nourishment, and unconditional generosity. Through this Homam, devotees express gratitude for the earth that supports us and pray for stability, abundance, family well-being, and harmony with nature.
It also reminds us that spiritual growth must be firmly grounded in humility, responsibility, and gratitude.
Day 3: Sri Neela Suktha Homam
Tuesday, October 13, 2026
Sri Neela Suktha Homam invokes the blessings of Neela Devi, who is traditionally worshipped alongside Sri Devi and Bhu Devi.
Neela Devi represents divine compassion, gentleness, and the subtle grace that guides devotees toward surrender. This Homam is an opportunity to pray for emotional balance, inner peace, harmony, and the strength to place our trust in the Divine.
Her grace reminds us that spiritual strength is not always forceful. It can also appear as patience, kindness, and quiet devotion.
Day 4: Sri Suktha Homam
Wednesday, October 14, 2026
Sri Suktha Homam is dedicated to Goddess Mahalakshmi, the divine source of auspiciousness, prosperity, beauty, and abundance.
True prosperity is not limited to material wealth. It includes good health, family harmony, noble character, generosity, spiritual fulfillment, and the ability to use one's blessings responsibly.
Through the chanting of Sri Suktham and offerings into the sacred fire, devotees seek the grace of Goddess Lakshmi for both material stability and lasting spiritual abundance.
Day 5: Sri Swayamvara Parvathi Homam
Thursday, October 15, 2026
Sri Swayamvara Parvathi Homam invokes Goddess Parvathi and Lord Shiva as the divine example of a sacred and harmonious union.
This Homam is traditionally associated with prayers for a suitable life partner, the removal of obstacles affecting marriage, and harmony within married and family life. Devotees may also pray for greater patience, mutual understanding, respect, and emotional unity within their relationships.
At a deeper level, the Homam represents the union of Shiva and Shakti—the inseparable harmony between divine consciousness and divine energy.
Day 6: Sri Lakshmi Kubera Homam
Friday, October 16, 2026
Sri Lakshmi Kubera Homam invokes Goddess Lakshmi, the giver of abundance, and Lord Kubera, the divine guardian of wealth.
The purpose of this Homam extends beyond the accumulation of money. It is a prayer for financial stability, freedom from unnecessary hardship, responsible stewardship, and the wisdom to use prosperity for dharmic purposes.
Devotees seek blessings not only to receive abundance, but also to preserve it, share it generously, and use it in ways that benefit their families and the wider community.
Day 7: Sri Saraswathi Suktha Homam
Saturday, October 17, 2026
Sri Saraswathi Suktha Homam is dedicated to Goddess Saraswathi, the source of knowledge, music, speech, creativity, and learning.
Students may seek Her blessings for concentration, understanding, and success in their studies. Teachers, musicians, dancers, writers, and artists may pray for inspiration and the ability to use their talents with humility and purpose.
This Homam also reminds us that knowledge reaches its highest purpose when it leads to wisdom, discernment, and service.
Day 8: Sri Bhagya Suktha Homam
Sunday, October 18, 2026 — Durga Ashtami
Sri Bhagya Suktha Homam invokes divine blessings for bhagyam—auspiciousness, well-being, favorable opportunities, and a life guided by grace.
Bhagyam is not merely good fortune. It includes the ability to recognize divine blessings, make wise decisions, meet the right people, and follow the path of dharma.
Through this Homam, devotees pray that their lives may be guided toward experiences and opportunities that support both worldly well-being and spiritual progress.
Special Durga Ashtami Chandi Homam
Durga Ashtami will also include the powerful Chandi Homam, one of the most significant fire rituals dedicated to the Divine Mother.
Chandi Homam invokes Goddess Chandika through sacred recitations and offerings, seeking Her protection and the removal of powerful inner and outer obstacles. It represents the victory of divine energy over fear, ignorance, negativity, and adharma.
Day 9: Sri Gayathri Devi Homam
Monday, October 19, 2026 — Mahanavami
Sri Gayathri Devi Homam invokes Goddess Gayathri, the embodiment of divine light, sacred knowledge, and spiritual awakening.
The Gayathri Mantra is a prayer for the illumination of the intellect. It asks the Divine to guide our thoughts so that we may understand what is right and live with greater awareness.
This Homam seeks clarity, purity of mind, spiritual discipline, and the wisdom to distinguish between what is temporary and what is truly meaningful.
Day 10: Sri Medha Suktha Homam
Tuesday, October 20, 2026 — Vijaya Dasami
The ten-day journey concludes with Sri Medha Suktha Homam, invoking divine intelligence, memory, comprehension, and wisdom.
Medha is more than the ability to collect information. It is the sacred capacity to understand, retain, apply, and share knowledge appropriately.
Performing this Homam on Vijaya Dasami is especially meaningful because the day is associated with Vidyaarambham—the auspicious beginning of education and new learning. Children, students, teachers, artists, and all those beginning a new intellectual or creative journey seek the blessings of Goddess Saraswathi on this sacred day.
A Complete Journey Through the Blessings of the Divine Mother
The ten Vishesha Homams of Sharada Navarathri form a deeply meaningful spiritual progression.
The journey begins with the protective strength of Goddess Durga. It continues through the sustaining grace of Bhu Devi, the compassion of Neela Devi, the abundance of Mahalakshmi, the harmony of Parvathi, and the prosperity invoked through Lakshmi and Kubera.
The final days turn toward auspiciousness, illumination, knowledge, and wisdom through Bhagya Devi, Gayathri Devi, Saraswathi Devi, and Medha Devi.
Together, these sacred Homams remind us that the Divine Mother blesses every dimension of life—our health, homes, relationships, livelihood, intellect, creativity, courage, and spiritual development.
