Onam Celebrations 2026

Onam is Kerala's most celebrated festival, marking the annual homecoming of the beloved King Mahabali and celebrating the values of humility, generosity, unity, and prosperity. Rooted in Hindu tradition, Onam commemorates the blessing of Lord Vamana, the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who granted King Mahabali the boon of returning once every year to visit his people. The festival brings families and communities together through traditional worship, cultural performances, festive decorations, and the famous Onam Sadya.

Who is King Mahabali?

King Mahabali is remembered as the noble and generous ruler of Kerala whose reign was known as an age of peace, equality, and prosperity. According to Hindu tradition, Lord Vamana blessed Mahabali with the privilege of returning once every year to visit his people. Onam celebrates his annual homecoming, reminding us to cultivate humility, compassion, generosity, and selfless service while preserving Kerala's rich spiritual and cultural heritage.

Traditional Onam Sadya — 12:30 PM

No Onam celebration is complete without the Onam Sadya, Kerala's traditional festive vegetarian feast served on a banana leaf. Symbolizing gratitude, abundance, and togetherness, the Sadya brings families and friends together to share a meal prepared with love and devotion.

Following the cultural programs, devotees are invited to enjoy the Traditional Onam Sadya at 12:30 PM, continuing the timeless tradition of celebrating Onam through food, fellowship, and community.
