Homams, Abhishekams, and the Night of Shiva
Maharudra & Maha Shivarathri Mahotsavam brings together an extended season of Shiva worship, from Maha Pradosham through Maha Shivarathri itself. This year, the mahotsavam was observed from January 23 – February 16, 2026.
The season opened with Maha Pradosham and the 108 Shanku Abhishekam, followed by the Maharudram Mahotsavam featuring the Swayamvara Parvathy Homam, Navagraha Homam, Dhanvantiri Homam, and Sudarshana Homam, along with Shivarathri Nrithya Seva.
The mahotsavam culminated in the Maha Shivarathri Mahotsavam with the Shiva Parvathy Thirukalyanam, the sacred wedding ceremony of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi, observed through the night alongside the temple's Maha Shivarathri programs.
